Celtic transfer dealmaker phones the Hotline, signs a striker for £15million and then asks 'what's the panic Bhoys?'
Celtic and Rangers both banked another three Premiership points on Sunday - but it’s the deals on deadline day which dominated Hotline chat.
Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers is desperate to land replacements for Kyogo and Alex Valle in the final day of the window. The Hoops will need to up their bid if Brondby striker Mathias Kvistgaarden is to arrive through the door though. And Jim McClean, Rothesay, said: “That game on Sunday tells the Celtic board they must sign two players before Monday night, open the biscuit tin Mr Lawwell, you are going to regret it once more, you have to put teams to bed. They should have sold Hatate not Kyogo. It’s not about possession it’s about goals.”
David Bryce, Troon, said: “It’s an absolute disgrace that Celtic have sold Kyogo and appear to have no successor lined up. Honestly, Lawwell and Nicholson conduct their business like a couple of amateurs and lack any ambition. They are made to look good due to the team’s success on the park. Every transfer window is tiresome now. I’m sure most Celtic fans would dearly love a change of leadership at the club.”

Taylor Beattie emailed: “Celtic need to push the boat out for Kvistgaarden. They have £10 million from Kyogo so if they need to go to £14-15 million, just do it. They are only outlaying £5m on a younger model with great potential.”
Rangers fans are edgy too with just hours left to wheel and deal. Jimmy Mac, Glasgow, said: “Rangers had the option to buy loanee Sima but decided to let him pass while claiming they had no funds. This season it is Cerny on loan with his club Wolfsburg willing to sell to Rangers at a price of £6.75million, is it going to be a case of pleading poverty again after getting high earners off the wage bill? Where did all that money go after the Europa League final and millions in players sales?”
And Alfie Mullin emailed: “As a Rangers fan, I believe that my club has treated Ianis Hagi shamefully. While I would like him to stay, I think he should tell the club to shove it. He deserves better than what he's had. Rangers don't deserve him.”
Meanwhile, Celtic are still waiting nervously to hear if the rocket with the smoke bomb at Villa Park has cost fans the chance to attend the Bayern Munich clash in Germany.
Bill Lockerbie, Northampton, said: “Celtic should take the initiative and ban fans from attending the away fixture before UEFA enforce it. The danger is, that by being offered another chance, the idiot minority will repeat the offence in Germany and receive a more stringent punishment from UEFA. Bans from home games and heavy fines will be enforced.”
And Davy Matson emailed: “The club have only themselves to blame. They know who these people are because they sell them the tickets. You see it at every home game. It’s the same with the huge flagpoles they let through the turnstiles at every home game. Stop and search before entry worked okay years ago.”
Speaking of Europe, the Old Firm fans’ tit-for-tat over who’s achievement in making the knockout stage is better rumbled on.
Scott McAdam, Glasgow, said: “Has anyone had a look at who's left in the dog and duck Europa League? Two or three teams are decent and the rest are pub teams. Now have a look at the teams in the Champions League.”
But John Hutchison emailed: “We keep hearing about the second rate European competition that Rangers are playing in. But correct me if I'm wrong, is this not the same competition that a reported quarter of a million supporters went to Seville to see in the final?”
Final word to Tim Gibbons who has been blown away by Hearts’ new Rocket Man Elton Kabangu after the striker took his tally to five goals in four games with a double against Dundee. Tim said: “There have been many iconic Elton shows over the years, such as those at Dodger Stadium in 1975 and Wembley Stadium in 1985. However, you’d be hard pressed to see a better one than that at Dens Park in 2025!”
