John Beaton will take charge of this year's Premier Sport's Cup Final.

Celtic will take on Rangers at Hampden on Sunday 15 December with the first piece of silverware of the season up for grabs. Philippe Clement is defending the first and only trophy he has won as Rangers boss after defeating Aberdeen in last's year's showpiece occasion. Brendan Rodgers saw his perfect domestic cup record as Hoops boss wrecked by Kilmarnock and is determined to wrestle the trophy back from their Glasgow rivals.

With both clubs sitting on a total of 118 major honours won, whoever comes out on top will have a few months of bragging rights when it comes to who is the most successful. Beaton will be tasked with keeping a lid on things at the national stadium. It will be the whistler's second Old Firm clash in succession, having taken charge of the Premiership meeting between the sides back in September, in which Celtic ran out 3-0 winners at Parkhead.

He will be assisted at Hampden by David McGeachie and Jonathan Bell. Steven McLean is fourth official while Alan Muir and Frank Connor will be on duty at Clydesdale House as VAR and AVAR.

Celtic secured their spot in the final by thumping Aberdeen 6-0 at Hampden, inflicting a first defeat of the season on the Dons. Rangers overcame Motherwell 2-1 to make it to a second successive final in this competition.
