Bradford Bulls’ Challenge Cup tie with Castleford Tigers will be shown live by the BBC next month, with the majority of the schedule for the third round now known. The Super League side will make the trip to Odsal on Sunday 9 February, to face their Championship opponent, with a 1 pm kick-off chosen.

The first competitive meeting of the two sides since 2014, Bradford will be hoping for a similar result to their shock 2018 victory over Leeds Rhinos, with the West Yorkshire club one of the favourites to win the Championship this season. They are one of a dozen lower league sides to face Super League opposition in a revamped format of rugby league’s oldest competition that sees all 12 topflight clubs enter at the last 32 stage.

Meanwhile, the BBC will show the game live via the red button, online via BBC Sport, and on the iPlayer. It has also been confirmed that the Sportsman will also show a game from the third round live on YouTube, with a pick made in due course.

All 16 ties will take place over the weekend of February 7-9, with a couple of reversals made and fixtures played on neutral venues. There is one tie still to be confirmed, with Keighley Cougars and York Knights meeting this weekend in the second round, with the winner hosting Hull KR on Friday 7 February.

Elsewhere, London-based community club Wests Warriors have reversed their fixture against Leeds Rhinos, with the game taking place at Headingley. Goole Vikings have also reversed their clash with Wakefield Trinity, who will now host the tie at Belle Vue.

There are also neutral venues for two more ties involving community clubs. York Acorn of the National Conference League are set to meet Hull FC at Featherstone Rovers, while West Hull will host St Helens at KR’s Craven Park ground. Unfortunately, both Hull FC and West Hull are both scheduled to play on Saturday 8 at 2 pm in a less than ideal clash.
