Champions League club considering 'loan with option to buy' for Leicester City stalwart
AS Monaco have identified Wilfred Ndidi as a potential answer to their midfield problems, according to a report.
French outlet L’Equipe claim Monaco are now considering the Leicester City man having had a loan move for West Ham’s Edson Alvarez rebuffed.
The story admits that no contact has been made between the Champions League outfit, who put a dent in Aston Villa’s hopes in midweek, and City. However, it does claim Monaco are pondering a six-month loan with an option to buy the Nigeria international who has a contract at the King Power until 2027. If he sees out that deal it would complete a decade with the club having signed from Genk in 2017.

Ndidi has made 289 appearances in that time, including 16 this season – but none since early December due to a hamstring problem. He is not expected to be back before the transfer window closes, with Ruud van Nistelrooy saying earlier this month: “(Ndidi) is continuing his individual training. He’s not yet with the team. He’s pushing harder on an individual basis. Hopefully we can welcome him to team training in the coming weeks but it’s not a matter that he will be part of it in the coming games.”
That would surely factor into any interest from Monaco, who are looking for support for Denis Zakaria who has also been injured this term.
