Champions League quarter-final draw: English clubs discover their fates

Manchester City and Tottenham will face each other three times in 11 days after being drawn against each other in the Champions League quarter-finals.

The all-English tie will see two of England’s best go head-to-head after Liverpool were handed a more favourable draw against FC Porto.

But Manchester United will face a reunion with Barcelona and Lionel Messi after drawing the LaLiga giants in the last eight.

It makes for an uncomfortable reunion for both – with memories of Messi’s Champions League-winning performance against United in 2011.

But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has fond memories of Barcelona’s Nou Camp – the site of his last-ditch winner against Bayern Munich in the 1999 Champions League final.

And if United can progress, it could mean a fierce rivalry in the semi-finals if Liverpool also beat Porto. Not to mention a Manchester derby in the final.
