Hull City's hugely frustrating 2-1 home defeat to Stoke City last weekend has seen their chances of relegation from the Championship increase, according to bookmakers.

The Tigers, who led 1-0 when Eliot Matazo turned in his and City's first goal inside the opening 10 minutes were beaten for the eighth time at the MKM Stadium in the Championship when the Potters turned the game in their favour to boost their own survival hopes and give Mark Robins his first league win in charge.

That loss was a far cry from the scenes of jubilation a week earlier when City went to Sheffield United and won convincingly, which, in turn, boosted their hopes of avoiding a calamitous drop back into the third tier.

Next up for City is a trip to Burnley on Wednesday night, by which point, the Tigers could be back inside the bottom three if Derby County end their seven-game losing run by winning away at Norwich City. Portsmouth, who sit a place directly above City, are away at Sheffield United this weekend.

While City's home form this season has been horrendous, away from home, things have improved under Ruben Selles with three wins, and clean sheets, in a row, so they'll head to Lancashire in midweek full of belief they can cause another surprise.

According to the Bookies, City now have a 25 per cent chance of being relegated, but bottom side Plymouth Argyle are rated at 94 per cent to go down, with Derby, Luton Town and Portsmouth all ranked as more likely to go than the Tigers, while Cardiff City, like the Tigers, have the same chance to be dumped into the third tier, according to Betfred.

Here's the latest odds...

Plymouth Argyle - 1/16 from 1/33 (94.1 per cent probability from 97.1 per cent)

Derby County - 5/4 from 13/8 (44.4 per cent probability from 38.1 per cent)

Luton Town - 5/4 (44.4 per cent probability)

Portsmouth - 6/4 from 11/8 (40 per cent probability from 42.1 per cent)

Cardiff City - 3/1 from 7/2 (25 per cent probability from 22.2 per cent)

Hull City - 3/1 from 5/1 (25 per cent probability from 16.7 per cent)

Stoke City - 3/1 from 2/1 (25 per cent probability from 33. per cent)

Oxford United - 5/1 (16.7 per cent probability)

Swansea City - 12/1 from 25/1 (7.7 per cent probability from 3.8 per cent)

Preston North End - 16/1 from 14/1 (5.9 per cent probability from 6.7 per cent)

“In the last week, there’s been negative movement for Cardiff City, Derby County, Hull City and Swansea City in the Championship relegation market," Betfred's Robert Ford told Hull Live.

"Hull City have seen the largest probability increase at 8.3 per cent, but Derby, Swansea and Cardiff have seen their chances of playing in League One next season rise by 6.3 per cent, 3.9 per cent and 2.8 per cent respectively.

“Plymouth Argyle, Portsmouth, Stoke City and Preston North End have seen their odds drift in a positive direction to 1/16, 6/4, 3/1 and 16/1. Luton Town and Oxford, who both drew at the weekend, as well as Oxford losing away at Burnley last night, have seen their odds remain the same at 5/4 and 5/1, respectively.

“Difficult away trips for Derby, Portsmouth and Swansea could have a big impact on the market later this week, with all three of the home teams being odds-on for victory as it stands.”
