Championship transfer debrief - Sheffield United confirm fourth signing as Leeds United watch on
It has been a busy transfer window for Leeds United's promotion rivals Sheffield United. The Blades, who trail the table-topping Whites by two points, have today made their fourth January signing.
Ipswich Town right-back Harry Clarke has moved to Bramall Lane on loan until the end of the season. Chris Wilder's men are understood to have beaten off strong competition from city rivals Sheffield Wednesday to land the defender.
"Where the boys are here, going for promotion, it was a no-brainer really," said Clarke. "It's a tough league; anyone can beat anyone on their day. I know what it took last year so hopefully I can bring that experience. I am young but I've been there, so hopefully we can achieve something this year."

Ipswich-born Clarke, who progressed through the youth ranks at Playford Road before getting snapped up by Arsenal at the age of 14, was a key member of the team who secured back-to-back promotions from League One to the Premier League. But the 23-year-old has fallen down in the pecking order behind Axel Tuanzebe, Ben Johnson and Ben Godfrey. Clarke has been restricted to just four league appearances this term.
The Blades, who entertain Leeds next month, have already recruited Ben Brereton Diaz, Tom Cannon and Hamza Choudhury since the market reopened on January 1.
Kamara update
Play-off chasing Middlesbrough remain interested in signing former Whites midfielder Glen Kamara. The Finland international departed Elland Road last summer, joining Stade Rennais in a deal in excess of £8m.
Kamara, a first-team regular for the Whites in their run to the play-off final last term, has struggled for game time in France. He has made 13 league appearances for Rennes, totalling just 662 minutes.
Our sister title Teesside Live says Boro in dialogue with Rennes over signing Kamara on loan. Middlesbrough are in the market for a new midfielder, with Dan Barlaser expected to leave the club before the window shuts on Monday. A potential sticking point in a deal could be Kamara's wage demands. The 29-year-old was linked with Ipswich and Southampton earlier this month.
Luton deal
Luton Town have bolstered their attacking options, signing Norway Under-21 international Thelo Aasgaard from League One side Wigan Athletic. The 22-year-old has scored eight times in 15 appearances this term.
The Latics, languishing in the bottom half of the third tier of English football, say Luton have paid a "significant" fee for the player. "It's been a joy to watch this club grow over the past few years, so I can't wait to be a part of it now," said Aasgaard.
"I've been at Wigan from a young age and had a lot of good memories there, so the next move had to be right - had to be special - and I feel this is the right place to be."
The Hatters are second-from-bottom, three points from safety.
