Championship transfer news as Leeds United's forthcoming opponents freshen up striker options
Leeds United will be out for revenge when they take on Millwall in the FA Cup next month. The Lions are one of only three teams to have beaten the Whites in the Championship this term.
They triumphed in the last meeting between the two clubs back in November, edging a tight contest 1-0 after a first half header from Japhet Tanganga. The Lions, under new boss Alex Neil, set up a fourth round FA Cup trip to Elland Road by brushing aside non league outfit Dagenham and Redbridge with a minimum of fuss on Monday evening.
Neil's team have reshuffled their striking options by signing Aaron Connolly from Sunderland on a permanent deal while Tom Bradshaw has joined Oxford United. Connolly joined the Black Cats at the start of the season and coincidentally scored his only goal in their 1-1 draw against the Lions. The Republic of Ireland international will not be eligible to face United next month, having already played in the FA Cup for Sunderland. Millwall are scheduled to visit Elland Road again in the league on March 12.

Millwall director of football Steve Gallen said: “We’re pleased to bring Aaron into the club. (He) has been a bit unlucky not to play a bit more at Sunderland this season, but that has given us an opportunity to get him in.”
Connolly’s arrival cleared the way for Bradshaw to leave The Den and link up with his former boss Gary Rowett at Oxford. Rowett said: “He’s a player who scored 17 goals for me in this league only two years ago, so I know all about his quality as a player and it’s there for everyone to see.
“Also important is that he is a fantastic character and one I know will fit straight into the group and help our dynamic within the training ground.”
Preston sign Premier League starlet
Mid-table Preston North End have swooped to sign Brentford’s teenage defender Jayden Meghoma on loan until the end of the season.
The left-back, who has made four first-team appearances for the Bees, could make his Lilywhites debut in Saturday’s Championship game at Luton Town. The 18-year-old kicked off his career in Tottenham’s academy before moving on to Southampton in 2022, for whom he made four senior appearances across all competitions. Brentford recruited Meghoma for an undisclosed fee in August last year.
North End boss Paul Heckingbottom said: “He’s a fast, tricky full-back who loves to get forward and plays a big part in attacks, while also being able to do the important work at the other end.
“Everything we’ve seen through scouting Jayden and heard about him from people in the game has been really positive so I think he’ll prove to be an important asset for us between now and the end of the season.”
