Chance to be coached by triple Olympic champion Adam Peaty at Plymouth Life Centre
Children in Plymouth are being given the chance to be coached by triple Olympic champion Adam Peaty. The event, which is being held at Plymouth Life Centre, will host the 14-time world record holder as part of the Adam Peaty Race Clinic's inaugural South West Tour.
Young swimmers aged between eight and 17 will be able to enhance their skills in a number of areas under the guidance of the triple Olympic champion himself on February 20, 2025.
Participants will engage in a program designed to elevate their performance as they prepare for the Long Course season. The day's agenda includes a breaststroke technique session with Adam and a breaststroke pullout session with Adam's former training partner, Ed Baxter, a strength and conditioning session also focusing on breaststroke.

A performance psychologist, Tom Bates, will also be running a session into the mental aspects of transitioning from good to great, providing swimmers with strategies to enhance their competitive mindset. There will also be a parent support Q&A ran by Kevin Pickard, who has two decades of experience in swimming support.
Ed Baxter CEO and Co-Founder of AP Race Club said: "Our Race Clinics are such a unique opportunity for athletes, not only to be coached by a Triple Olympic Champion like Adam, but also the rest of our world class team across all the areas that feed into becoming a better athlete. We are delighted to be at the Plymouth Life Centre for our second event here in two years with another coming in June. We can’t wait to see everyone at the Race Clinic in February.”
Steph Lewis, Head of Business and Commercial Development for Plymouth Active Leisure said: ‘’The Plymouth Life Centre plays a vital role in nurturing swimming talent, from the early steps of our Learn to Swim programme to hosting special events like the Adam Peaty Swim Clinic. These opportunities showcase our commitment to providing a pathway for swimmers to achieve their full potential while inspiring the community.
"By bringing swimming events to Britain’s Ocean City, we not only elevate the profile of Plymouth as a destination for aquatic sports but also create exciting opportunities that benefit our residents and the wider region.’’
Councillor Sue Dann, Plymouth City Council cabinet member with responsibility for sport and leisure, said: “We are so pleased to be welcoming Adam to the Plymouth Life Centre. What an amazing opportunity for young competitive swimmers to learn from such an accomplished athlete.
