Charles Barkley Buys Entire Bar Drinks After Local College Hockey Team’s Win: ‘You Guys Have Been Amazing’
"For the next five songs, all drinks are free at the bar,” Barkley said to cheers from the crowd
Next round is on NBA legend Charles Barkley!
Barkley, 61, earned the love of Fredonia, New York after he bought drinks for an entire local bar over the weekend after attending a college hockey game.
On Friday, Dec. 6, the NBA on TNT cohost watched the SUNY Fredonia men’s hockey team win over Plattsburgh State and then celebrated at the bar, the Village of Fredonia Police Department posted on Facebook.
“Slam dunk for our night shift! Our officers met NBA legend Charles Barkley tonight, a true gentleman and supporter of law enforcement!,” the police department wrote, alongside a photo of multiple officers posing with Barkley.

In video of Barkley’s surprise appearance at the bar, he showed appreciation for the SUNY Fredonia hockey team before telling the crowd that he was covering the bar tab.
“I went to the Fredonia State game tonight. They won 2 to zip," Barkley said to cheers from the crowd. "I've never been to Fredonia State before. You guys have been amazing. So for me, we're going to play some music that I listen to right now, and for the next five songs, for the next five songs, all drinks are free at the bar.”

Barkley was in town to do the puck drop at the start of the game, which is part of Fredonia’s alumni weekend honoring the 1993-94 hockey team that won the NCAA championship, Syracuse.com reported.
This isn’t the first time that Barkley has shown his generosity, as back in August he revealed that he left a staggering $100 million-dollar offer “on the table” to stay with Turner Sports, so that TNT employees could keep their jobs.
“The No. 1 thing for me is my people from Turner get to keep their jobs for at least another year,” Barkley said on the Dan Le Batard Show on Aug. 12. “That's all I was concerned with.”
Barkley’s decision to remain with Warner Bros. Discovery's sports division came after TNT was left out of the NBA's 11-year media rights deal.
