Chelsea appear set for a relatively quiet January transfer window in terms of new signings. Enzo Maresca has one of the biggest squads in the Premier League at his disposal and has been rather fortunate with injuries, despite the recent defensive problems.

Wesley Fofana, Benoit Badiashile, Marc Cucurella and Reece James have all missed action recently and thus if the Blues are to bring in a new face, it will likely be in defence. If there is to be any major movement from Stamford Bridge next month though, it is expected to involve players departing the club.

Cesare Casadei, Ben Chilwell, Carney Chukwuemeka and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall are just a few names that could leave either on loan or permanently. With that being said, football.london has taken a look at the latest Chelsea transfer news and rumours.

Chukwuemeka stance

Despite the fact he has played just 130 minutes of football this season, Chelsea are demanding the full value of Carney Chukwuemeka's £40million release clause to sanction a January exit, though a loan is also possible, according to multiple reports.

The former Aston Villa man is believed to have interest in his services from elsewhere with it not appearing he is part of Maresca's plans.

football.london says: Considering how little he has played, it is quite rich to demand such a fee and thus Chukwuemeka unfortunately appears set to remain in west London.

Departing temporarily is entirely possible but the majority of clubs interested will certainly want him on a permanent basis given his potential and the fact he may struggle to make an immediate impact given his lack of match fitness.

It is hard to imagine Chelsea allowing him to join a fellow Premier League on loan and therefore he may be forced to move abroad which is unlikely to be something the Englishmen wants.

Triple exit sanctioned

Of the players linked to leaving Chelsea, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Casadei, Chukwuemeka and Chilwell could all move on in January.

None of the trio have featured regularly under Maresca and thus it is no surprise that they have seemingly been given permission to find a new club.

football.london says: Chelsea absolutely need to trim their squad in January and departures for three outcasts is certainly the best way of making that happen.

All three of Chilwell, Casadei and Chukwuemeka have endured big challenges at Stamford Bridge and therefore moving on permanently may certainly be the aim for the trio given how unlikely it looks for Maresca to make a big U-turn.

If the Blues can raise funds in the winter window it may significantly help any potential business next summer while also giving the club some financial breathing room if it is required.
