Chelsea have announced a new contract for goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli.

The Italian has been a regular on the bench since joining the Blues in 2021, to act as back-up to Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy.

The new deal runs to the summer of 2026 with Bettinelli’s original deal due to expire this summer.

“It is a privilege to be at a club like Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world, and a couple of years ago when I signed I was delighted to be here, delighted to sign,” he told the club website.

“To be here now and see the club going through this transition and seeing what we are developing, it is amazing to be a part of and I am buzzing to be here for an extra couple of years.”

Bettinelli, 30, has only made one senior appearance for Chelsea during his time at the club: an FA Cup win over Chesterfield last season.

N’Golo Kante is now the only remaining senior player at the Premier League club whose deal is set to run out at the end of the season, along with loanees Joao Felix and Denis Zakaria.
