Chelsea co-owners put on united front as Enzo Maresca hails 'fantastic' Nicolas Jackson
Chelsea’s co-owners put on a united front to celebrate Saturday’s victory over West Ham, as Enzo Maresca hailed Nicolas Jackson’s “fantastic” display.
Todd Boehly and Behdad Egbhali were pictured alongside each other at the London Stadium and joined Maresca’s players in the dressing room following the 3-0 win.
There have been growing reports of tensions between Egbhali’s Clearlake Capital, which is the majority shareholder, and Boehly, over key decisions on the running of the club.
It is understood that both parties have been considering options to buy the other out, but that neither has any interest in a sale.
“Not only today, it’s always good when we win for them but especially because they were both here,” Maresca said. “We can give them some good moments. They were in the changing room, they were both happy.
“They were happy after the game. Before the game no [they were not in the changing room], because we were preparing the game.”
A clinical performance from Jackson saw the Blues cruise to victory against an abject West Ham, with the striker scoring twice in the first 18 minutes before setting up the clincher for Cole Palmer after half-time.
Jackson’s finishing has come under scrutiny in the early part of the season but Maresca kept faith with the 23-year-old ahead of Christopher Nkunku and was rewarded with his third successive away win.
“Fantastic,” Maresca said. “In terms of numbers, goals and assists, since I arrived here he’s doing well. Off the ball, he’s working hard.
“If a player misses one or two chances it doesn’t mean he’s not playing well. It can happen. All players miss chances. What’s important is the complete performance.”
