Everton want to sign Carney Chukwuemeka on loan from Chelsea, it has been claimed. The 21-year-old has struggled for game time under Enzo Maresca this season, having started just once across all competitions.

Chukwuemeka hasn't made a single appearance in the Premier League and he could be allowed to leave the Blues this month. Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and even Cesare Casedei are above him in the pecking order and there is interest in the former Aston Villa midfielder.

According to talkSPORT, David Moyes' Everton are keen on signing Chukwuemeka on loan as they bid to strengthen their squad for the remainder of the season. However, a move for the former England Under 20s international would only be possible if Chelsea terminated Armando Broja's loan at Goodison Park.

Broja is out for three months with ankle ligament damage and it's claimed that Chelsea are demanding a compensation package to take him back. The Albanian has started just one Premier League game since his move to the Toffees in the summer, playing just 181 minutes of first-team football.

West Ham are also interested in Chukwuemeka this month, as Graham Potter tries to bolster his ranks after replacing Julen Lopetegui earlier this month. The Hammers, however, are poised to complete their first January arrival after agreeing a £10million deal with OH Leuven for Ezechiel Banzuzi.

Earlier this month, Maresca spoke about Chukwuemeka's future and revealed it might be best for him to leave in search of more minutes. "Carney won't be included," Maresca said before his side's FA Cup game against Morecambe. "More or less the decision is like Chilwell and Cesare Casadei.

"Cesare, probably Chilwell and Carney, they are the same situation. It's something that I said at the beginning that Carney is a good player. But we have so many midfield players that he will struggle to get minutes with us. Probably for him the best solution is to go and get minutes. So he won't be involved in our game."
