Chelsea confirm Pedro Neto's squad number ahead of new season
Chelsea have confirmed Pedro Neto’s squad number ahead of the new season.
The former Wolves forward completed a shock move to Stamford Bridge last week after the Blues beat Tottenham to his signature.
Neto has signed a seven-year contract with the club following a £54m move from Molineux and was paraded in front of supporters for the first time during the 1-1 draw with Inter Milan on Sunday.
Chelsea are believed to have agreed to pay an initial £51.4m, with a further £2.6m coming in the way of achievable add-ons.
New head coach Enzo Maresca has hailed the 24-year-old’s versatility, tipping him to make a significant impact during a hectic season.
“I’m very excited, he can offer many things,” he said.
“He can play on the right side, he can play on the left side, he’s very good one-on-one.
“It is one more option we have because there will be many, many games in the season, so we need a big squad.”
The club have now confirmed Neto will wear the No.19 shirt this season, last worn by Armando Broja, who has been the subject of interest this summer.
Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, Diego Costa and Demba Ba are among those who have previously occupied the shirt.
