Chelsea get fitness boost for Bournemouth clash
Enzo Maresca has confirmed Noni Madueke is available to return for Chelsea against Bournemouth.
Madueke missed Saturday’s 5-0 FA Cup win over Morecambe through illness but the 22-year-old is in contention to feature at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.
“He’s back,” said Maresca on Monday. “He’s training with us. He’s 100 per cent fit.”
Madueke has not started for Chelsea since their 2-0 defeat away at Ipswich on December 30.
Maresca previously left Madueke out for a “technical decision” against Fulham in December, but the Chelsea head coach confirmed after the Morecambe game that the forward missed out through illness.
"It was just because yesterday he didn't finish the session,” he said. “He was unwell.”
Reece James and Romeo Lavia returned from hamstring injuries against Morecambe and played 45 minutes as Chelsea cruised into the fourth round, where they will play Brighton at the Amex.
Maresca has confirmed both players are now available to play 90 minutes if needed.
“Yes, we are very happy for both,” he said. “They played 45 minutes the other day and now they’re available.
“Yes [they can play 90]. They are available and we said since the beginning we’ll try to manage both because they’re a bit delicate situation.”
