Despite Chelsea planning for a relatively quiet January transfer window, things have taken quite a turn. Just under halfway through the mid-season market, it is all action.

Enzo Maresca has the challenge of keeping his players grounded and focused on key action whilst speculation grows. For many, the selection decisions made by the head coach will indicate just where their futures lie.

In the 5-0 FA Cup win over Morecambe, it was notable that Cesare Casadei, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, and Carney Chukwuemeka were all left out entirely. As was Ben Chilwell. The quartet have all struggled for minutes and are expected to be on their way out this month.

They will almost certainly not play against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday, either. Even though it will leave Maresca without much clear cover in midfield, the choice to move on permanently has been made.

Young star Kiano Dyer could be called up into the first-team squad again. He didn't play for the Under-21 side in a 4-0 win on Monday night, which may suggest there are bigger plans for him. Meanwhile, Sam Rak-Sakyi did feature for Felipe Coelho's men. He is reportedly a target for Frank Lampard at Coventry City.

Meanwhile, it has been written that amid uncertainty over his own position at the club, Axel Disasi will also miss out. He has already been usurped by 18-year-old Josh Acheampong.

Reece James and Romeo Lavia are set to continue their own path to full fitness after completing 45 minutes at the weekend. Elsewhere, with Mykhailo Mudryk still suspended, Tyrique George could get a spot on the bench with what is a stacked set of attacking options for Maresca.

Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana both remain out with injury, and recalled defender Aaron Anselmino is not expected to be involved anytime soon as he is slowly integrated into his new surroundings. Bournemouth themselves have problems in attack but are looking to move level on points with Chelsea with a win. The Blues know they could end the midweek as low as seventh if results go against them.

Here, football.london predicts the full 20-man squad Maresca will name for Bournemouth.
