Chelsea are not expected to be busy in the January window, but even that is not going to stop them being heavily linked with a host of names. The mid-season window is, instead, likely to be one for trimming the squad and finding new clubs for those on the outside of Enzo Maresca's main group.

Twelve months ago, the decision-makers followed up another massive summer spend without shelling out a single dime over the winter. It wouldn't be a surprise if the same was true here.

However, Chelsea will be ready and reactive if the opportunity arises. Injuries to key defenders and midfielders has left Maresca scraping the barrel of what he has made clear is his core group of players. Although his wider numbers are still strong, no European football until March will be a test of his man-management.

Here, football.london has the latest on the noises around Chelsea;

Felix future

Joao Felix and Chelsea will assess his future at the club this summer, and not during the January transfer window. According to Give Me Sport, both parties have agreed to see out his first full campaign at Stamford Bridge before making a decision after a disappointing start to life back in London.

Since his £45million arrival from Atletico Madrid was confirmed back in August, Felix has scored just one Premier League goal for the club, playing less than 500 minutes. He has been more regularly been used in the Conference League, where his impact has been greater but in a much less competitive environment.

This hasn't lead to his short-term spot in the squad being up for the debate, though, with reports suggesting that he is expected to remain until at least this summer. What happens there is more unknown, with an exit not out of the question.

During talks about how life in blue has gone for Felix, it is reported that Chelsea expressed their desire to keep working with him and that a move from the player's side wouldn't be forced, either. Felix has only started three games in the league for Chelsea, with each of those coming against newly promoted teams.

football.london says: It would obviously be a PR disaster for Chelsea to try and move on from Felix now, especially after the initial deal to bring him in was widely scolded in the first place. It was totally unnecessary and needless to get Felix, let alone just to facilitate the sale of Conor Gallagher - who has proven to be a bigger attacking threat for Chelsea and Atletico Madrid despite playing a much more withdrawn role.

That being said, Felix could and should have been used more often by Maresca this season. He isn't as effective as Cole Palmer or Jadon Sancho but he is a capable player in low-key matches. He isn't benefitting from being largely left in the cold even when matches have been won, and that showed against Ipswich Town on Monday.

Felix really needed to stand up and prove himself at Portman Road in a rare outing but instead he only confirmed the fears that many had over him in the first place. Nobody has dealt with his arrival well.

Maresca hasn't turned to him enough to at least keep things fresh. Felix hasn't really been at it when tasked with influencing games. And Chelsea made the signing, which is still the biggest error here.

Disasi wait

Chelsea have no plans to sell Axel Disasi this month, but would not stand in his way if an acceptable offer came in, football.london understands that, unlike Ben Chilwell and Carney Chukwuemeka, there is no enforced push for the Frenchman to leave.

However, with Disasi struggling under Maresca and now facing competition from the younger and more agile Josh Acheampong, a slight defensive shuffle has not been ruled out. The club are currently finding life much harder without Wesley Fofana in the right centre-back spot, with no immediate time frame for his return.

Other reports suggest that there is plenty of interest in Disasi, who signed last season for £39million. An unnamed Premier League club are also said to have made an initial enquiry. He was previously a target for Newcastle United over the summer.

football.london says: Disasi is a good character to have but his football ability for Chelsea right now just does not add anything. He was a big buy at the time as cover for Trevoh Chalobah whilst he was injured, but the decision to effectively replace one with the other has not played out well.

Acheampong should be taking all of Disasi's minutes in the coming weeks in order to get himself Premier League ready, because the right-back experiment (even if it is largely as an outside centre-back when in possession) must not continue. Chelsea could really do with being more active in finding a way out for Disasi.
