Chelsea perform shock transfer U-turn on deadline day as agreement reached
Chelsea look to have sanctioned a surprising loan transfer in the final hours of deadline day. The Blues have been linked with countless names this month but are yet to announce any new signings despite accepting two senior exits.
With Alejandro Garnacho looking likely to remain at Manchester United and Mathys Tel joining Tottenham, it was unclear what players could arrive at the eleventh hour. However, it does look as though at least one player will be added to Enzo Maresca's squad.
football.london understands that Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Mathis Amougou from Saint-Etienne for a fee worth over £10million. As for some deadline day outgoings, Joao Felix is set to join AC Milan while Carney Chukwuemeka has had his temporary switch to Borussia Dortmund confirmed.

At least one more loan exit before 11pm looked likely with Axel Disasi of interest to Aston Villa and Tottenham. A move to the latter was green-lit by Chelsea, but the defender was said to have turned down the move.
Despite attempts to get that particular switch sanctioned, no breakthrough was made, but the France international will still be playing his football elsewhere for the remainder of the season with an agreement reached for him to join Aston Villa, as football.london understands.
A transfer to Unai Emery's side was seemingly ruled out earlier as Chelsea did not want to sell to a direct rival, however it looks as though a U-turn has been completed on that stance. Plenty of other moves have also been announced in the last few hours in addition to Trevoh Chalobah's return and Renato Veiga's loan switch to Juventus.
That includes Cesare Casadei also making the move to Italy having joined Torino on a permanent deal. Caleb Wiley has also signed for Watford on loan while David Datro Fofana has seen his temporary spell at Goztepe come to an end having missed the last few weeks with injury.
Aaron Anselmino meanwhile, is expected to remain in west London despite an approach from Marseille.
