Chelsea have returned to winning ways in the Premier League as they survived a scare to beat Wolves at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues took the lead on 24 minutes through Tosin Adarabioyo. The defender struck home after the ball fell through to the defender. The assistant referee put their flag up initially but after a lengthy VAR check, the goal was given.

However, Chelsea were unable to get into the break with the lead after Matt Doherty equalised deep into stoppage time in the first-half. Robert Sanchez was unable to catch the ball from a corner and Doherty was on hand to take advantage of the mess in the six-yard box.

Around 15 minutes into the second-half, Chelsea restored their advantage. Marc Cucurella got on the end of a Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall flick on to score his third goal in eight matches in all competitions for the west Londoners.

Swiftly after that, Chelsea went two goals ahead with Noni Madueke headed in from close range after a fine header from Trevoh Chalobah. That eased the tension in SW6 and the Blues went onto claim all three points.

Here, we run the rule over the Chelsea players after the marginal victory at Stamford Bridge...

Robert Sanchez - 4

Poor from the goalkeeper deep into first-half stoppage time that allowed Doherty to poke the ball home for Wolves. Not quite sure why he didn't elect to punch the ball instead of trying to catch it and then fumble it.

Reece James - 6

Gets the assist for Tosin's goal. Very good on the ball, as you would expect. A strong performance all things considered. More importantly, great to see him get more than 80 minutes (including first-half stoppage time) in his legs.

Tosin Adarabioyo - 7

Goal machine Tosin strikes again. His third goal in as many matches for the Blues. While it is a bonus that he scores goals, you really want to judge him on his defending - and he excelled doing that against Wolves.

Trevoh Chalobah - 8

A superb performance from the defender on his return to the club. Played a massive part in Madueke's goal - so much so, that he may feel aggrieved that the winger did not leave the ball to cross the line!

Marc Cucurella - 6

Looked off it for most of the night but then scored an hour in. Great to see him get in that position and get it past Jose Sa.

Moises Caicedo - 6

Not sure what the problem was but it was by no means a vintage Caicedo display even before an injury late in the first half, which he managed to run off.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall - 6

Enzo Maresca said pre-match that he wanted Dewsbury-Hall to produce similar form to what we saw last season at Leicester City. Thought he looked off it for the most part but more than plays his part in Cucurella's goal, flicking it onto the Spaniard.

Noni Madueke - 6

Plays a big part in Cucurella's goal - slowing the game down, waiting until the right moment to put a fine delivery in. Got on the score sheet moments later - his fourth against Wolves this season.

Cole Palmer - 5

He didn't look himself; nowhere near as sharp. Perhaps not fit enough considering he was a doubt coming into this one. Alternatively, he has set the bar so high for himself that when he is not his absolute best, it is classed as an off-day.

Pedro Neto - 5

Needs to do more. Just wasn't involved in the game. When he did get the ball, he would often look for the cross but you would just love to see him take on his man more often.

Nicolas Jackson - 6

His off-the-ball work was superb - and that's what we have come to expect from Chelsea's No.15. Thought he scored on 78 minutes but he was marginally offside.

SUBS

Jadon Sancho (on for Neto 60') - 6

Bright on the right wing when he got the ball.

Axel Disasi (on for James 77') - 6

Many fans thought they would never see Disasi in a Chelsea shirt again but here we are. Did fine.

Malo Gusto (on for Dewsbury-Hall 77') - 6

A couple of nice passes into midfield.

Joao Felix (on for Palmer 84') - N/A

Too late to make a real judgement but good to see him get on.

Tyrique George (on for Madueke 84') - N/A

A Premier League debut for the teenager. See above.
