SOUTHAMPTON FC Women have confirmed that Lucy Watson has been recalled by parent club Chelsea from her initially agreed season-long loan.

The young forward arrived at the club on deadline day in September but had not yet fully recovered from an injury.

Upon her return from fitness, Watson made her debut against south coast rivals Portsmouth in a 4-0 away win in the League Cup.

She was later handed her first start against West Ham, also in the League Cup, but never featured in the Championship for Saints.

A statement on the club's website said: "We wish Lucy all the best for the next stage of her career."

Southampton are expected to complete a deal for Jamaica international Siobhan Wilson, who has been at Staplewood this week.

Remi Allen's side return to action next Sunday following the winter break and will be aiming to push up the table in a bid for promotion.
