Cole Palmer has posted a clear Chelsea message to his social media following the 2-1 Premier League defeat to Fulham. The 22-year-old made it 12 goals from 18 appearances on Boxing Day with a superb left-footed strike that initially put the Blues in front.

With Enzo Maresca's side failing to find a second, it looked as though a second consecutive clean sheet would be required to pick up all three points. However, as Fulham have done on many occasions this season, they fought back and equalised through Harry Wilson.

Rodrigo Muniz then completed the turnaround with an excellent finish deep into added time which saw Chelsea's 12-game run without a defeat come to an end. With Liverpool winning later that day, the Blues are now seven points of the league leaders.

Despite his side impressing, Maresca has stressed on numerous occasions that Chelsea are not in the title race and that looks to have been proven true following defeat to Marco Silva's side. With that being said, there is a chance to immediately respond as Chelsea take on Ipswich Town on Monday, December 30.

With just a few days rest and given the defeat, Maresca may certainly be tempted to make some starting XI changes. Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku could both come in but it is unlikely that either replace Palmer.

His latest goal once again showed the impact he has on Chelsea and though Maresca has faced some criticism for not making substitutions which has also seen Palmer play 90 minutes in the last four league games, he has been sent another reminder to keep him in the team.

On Instagram, just 24 hours on from defeat to Fulham, Palmer reposted Chelsea's graphic which showed he is now Chelsea's record goal-scorer in a calendar year with 26 goals, beating previous holder Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink by one.

The England international has had a superb 2024 with Maresca hopefully keen that continues. While he often stamps his mark on games, the Chelsea boss will be keen for others to start consistently contributing to goals with Nicolas Jackson, Jadon Sancho and Enzo Fernandez all scoring in recent weeks.
