Chelsea suffer fresh double injury blow with Mykhailo Mudryk and Romeo Lavia doubts for Luton
Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that Chelsea have fresh injury concerns over Mykhailo Mudryk and Romeo Lavia ahead of the trip to Luton.
Both players suffered injuries in the 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on Wednesday and are being assessed.
Mudryk and Lavia join a lengthy injury list at Chelsea which already includes the likes of captain Reece James, Ben Chilwell, Enzo Fernandez and Robert Sanchez.
Asked whether any injured players would return at Luton, Pochettino turned to his assistant Jesus Perez and then said: "No, no."
Pochettino added: “We need to assess Mudryk and then Romeo Lavia also. Lavia feels something, some issue. We need to check and hope it’s not [bad].
"I’m a little bit worried. I don’t know, because if you were watching the [Palace] game you cannot appreciate I was changing the position with Lavia at the end because he was struggling to run.
"We will see what is going on. Hopefully, it is not a big issue and he can play with us again.
"[He is an] important player that will recover and it is going to be a shame if we cannot use him in the next few games.”
Marc Cucurella, Wesley Fofana, Carney Chukwuemeka, Trevoh Chalobah and Lesley Ugochukwu are also out of the trip to Kenilworth Road.
But Raheem Sterling and Cole Palmer will both return after serving one-match suspensions against Palace.
Chelsea are currently 10th in the Premier League table and a run of four away defeats has stunted their progress towards the European qualification spots.
