Chelsea and Tottenham are reportedly considering a move for in-demand Canada striker Jonathan David, but the soon-to-be free agent might actually be a better proposition for Arsenal instead.

With one eye on the upcoming January transfer window, David and speculation over his Lille future has returned, especially as the 24-year-old reaches an anticipated crossroads. With just seven months left to run on his contract, the frontman can open up discussions with clubs outside France next month for a pre-arranged transfer.

January also marks the last opportunity for Lille to cash-on on their star man. Reports from The Athletic weigh-up what is a make-or-break time for David and his representatives.

The publication's latest transfer round-up indicates that David has an offer on the table to extend his stay at Lille. However, the striker has not communicated his final decision to the club - although he has previously outlined his admiration for the Premier League and that he'd like play in that competition at some stage in his career.

In a past interview, the Canada international said: "In England, when I watch the matches, everything is full each time. As a player, it motivates you even more.

"I don't know, I think it's possible, very possible. I don't know if I can find myself anywhere other than the Premier League. It could well be the Premier League. It's a very nice atmosphere."

Possible, it might well be, as David continues to have English clubs on red alert. The Athletic outline Chelsea and Tottenham as potential suitors for the 59-cap international, while Aston Villa and Liverpool are also tipped to be considering a push for his signature.

Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Inter Milan are the other European sides mentioned. However, after opting against making their own move for a No.9-type striker this summer, Arsenal shouldn't be discounted from the race, either, amid heavy-handed links with Sporting CP sensation Viktor Gyokeres and Newcastle striker Alexander Isak.
