The final 36 hours of January's transfer window could be very busy for Chelsea with up to five players facing uncertain futures and three new signings eyed. In terms of actual moves being sanctioned though, the Blues have endured a quiet month on the whole.

Mathys Tel, Alejandro Garnacho, Benjamin Sesko and Evan Ferguson are just a few stars to have been linked with Chelsea. As for potential outgoings, with Renato Veiga having joined Juventus on loan, Christopher Nkunku and Carney Chukwuemeka are also of interest to other European clubs.

The latter departing before deadline day however, currently looks unlikely. Ben Chilwell on the other hand, could finally have the chance to play in the Premier League again. As for incomings before 11pm on Monday, February 3, Chelsea are still keeping tabs on at least four players.

With that being said, football.london has rounded up the latest Chelsea transfer news and rumours with under 48 hours remaining of the trading period.

Triple deadline day race

Chelsea are still in the market for a striker, winger and central midfielder, according to the Telegraph. Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap, Viktor Gyokeres of Sporting CP, RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko and Brighton star Evan Ferguson have all been named as possible signings up top.

The latter could leave Brighton but it is seen as unlikely that a loan move to Chelsea is sanctioned with the only way to sign the 20-year-old being on a permanent deal.

football.london says: Chelsea are now better off waiting until the summer in order to not make a last-minute purchase that could be done in a panic.

The Blues do need another striker but it is not the biggest priority and waiting until the end of the 2024/25 season will likely see better opportunities emerge.

Chukwuemeka stance

Borussia Dortmund have submitted a bid to Chelsea for Carney Chukwuemeka, football.london understands. The former Aston Villa star has featured for just 130 minutes this season with the midfielder quite clearly not in Enzo Maresca's plans.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that Chelsea have no plans to allow him to leave on a temporary basis, even if a buy-option clause is included with £25million claimed to be the offer from Germany.

football.london says: At this point, you just have to feel sorry for Chukwuemeka. At 21, he is almost definitely just desperate to play football and regardless of the fact he may not be in the club's long-term plans, letting him leave on loan could actually benefit Chelsea.

As evidenced by Ian Maatsen's spell at Dortmund, a number of impressive displays raised his price tag and the Blues were subsequently able to obtain £35million from his permanent departure. It's worked once and there is no reason to suggest it won't again.

Chilwell exit 'close'

Crystal Palace are said to be close to agreeing a loan deal with Chelsea for Ben Chilwell, though the left-back is yet to make a decision on his future.

Like Chukwuemeka, Chilwell has barely played for the Blues over the last few months and despite being reintegrated into first-team training, a departure has appeared inevitable for some time.

football.london says: Injuries have harmed Chilwell in recent seasons but he could finally be set for a move that can see those avoided.

With Oliver Glasner often deploying a back three, the England international could slot in perfectly at left centre-back and almost be a direct replacement for Trevoh Chalobah after he returned to Chelsea from the Eagles.

The move is not quite going ahead just yet, but if Chilwell just wants to play football again, accepting it feels like a no-brainer.
