Chelsea: US Soccer fly in to finalise record-breaking Emma Hayes deal

US Soccer officials are in London to finalise their move for Chelsea manager Emma Hayes.

Hayes has agreed to become head coach of United States national team and talks are taking place to rubber-stamp the final details of the deal.

US Soccer sporting director Matt Crocker has flown to London to seal a deal that is expected to make Hayes the highest-paid female coach in the world.

Hayes last weekend announced her shock decision to leave Chelsea at the end of the season.

Chelsea have given her permission to speak to US Soccer, having agreed she will remain in charge for the remainder of the campaign.

Hayes is set to take over as US head coach after Vlatko Andonovski stepped down following their disappointing last-16 exit at the World Cup in the summer.

The 47-year-old could receive a salary in line with US men's coach Gregg Berhalter, who is reported to earn more than £1.3million a year.

Caretaker manager Twila Kilgore is set to remain in charge until Hayes takes over ahead of the Olympics in Paris next summer.

Chelsea will take their time to identify a successor to Hayes, who has won an incredible six titles and five FA Cups during 11 years at the club.

It is understood former Manchester United manager Casey Stoney is among those who are admired by Chelsea.
