The next six days could spell the end of Axel Disasi's Chelsea career with the French defender a target for two Premier League clubs.

football.london understands Wolves and Aston Villa are both interested in signing Disasi and are battling it out for the defender's signature this month. The 26-year-old has been with the Blues for almost 18 months - after signing from AS Monaco in August 2023 in a deal understood to be near the £40million-mark.

In that time, Disasi has made 61 appearances in total for Chelsea, scoring five goals along the way, but has failed to make a positive impression during his time at Stamford Bridge. Simply put - and rather brutally - the Frenchman has been a calamity at times when playing for the Blues. While he provides cover at centre-back and right-back, there is a feeling Disasi makes the side weaker when he is playing.

Disasi has struggled to impress this season in particular, perhaps because of a failure to adapt to Enzo Maresca's way of playing in west London. A possession-based style of football has come hard to Disasi, who has made just four starts in the Premier League this term - and two of them came in heavily-rotated XIs against Southampton and Ipswich Town.

Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile both suffered hamstring injuries last month, leaving the Blues short of options at centre-back but even then Disasi was overlooked. Instead, the club recalled Trevoh Chalobah from his loan spell at Crystal Palace and the 25-year-old has done well since returning to SW6 in a move that has seen Disasi slump even further down the pecking order.

Despite having a contract that runs until the summer of 2025 - another four-and-a-half years - it looks as if Disasi's days are all but numbered at Stamford Bridge. The details of an exit are still being discussed, with a loan or permanent move still on the cards, football.london understands, as the two Midlands clubs in Villa and Wolves trying to lure Disasi in the final six days of the window.

For Chelsea, despite the pleas from the majority of supporters, offloading Disasi does not necessarily mean they will be in the market for a replacement in the latter stages of the window. The Blues have Levi Colwill, Tosin Adarabioyo, Josh Acheampong, Chalobah and even Aaron Anselmino as cover at centre-back with Fofana and Badiashile still absent. Also, Reece James and Malo Gusto are the two right-back options at the moment, while Acheampong can also play out there.
