Chelsea's chances of competing for the Premier League title were dealt another blow as they dropped points against Crystal Palace.

The Blues were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw against the Eagles in the top-flight clash at Selhurst Park, with Cole Palmer opening the scoring for the visitors.

Jean-Philippe Mateta equalised for Palace late in the second half, and Chelsea could not find another goal of their own to regain their lead.

Enzo Maresca's side are now nine points behind leaders Liverpool following the draw with Palace, although Chelsea have played two games more than their title rivals.

The Blues will now have a break from Premier League action as they take on Morecambe in the third round of the FA Cup next weekend in their upcoming fixture.
