Chris Davies could change Birmingham City transfer plan after 'severe' setback
Chris Davies could ask Birmingham City to strengthen at left-back to cope with the blow of losing Lee Buchanan to a long-term knee injury.
Buchanan is set for an extended spell on the sidelines after his knee buckled underneath him during Sunday’s 0-0 draw with Blackpool. Alex Cochrane is now Blues’ only available left-back and started the 1-1 draw with Stockport in the first game without Buchanan.
“Lee’s injury is quite severe as everyone would have guessed,” Blues boss Davies confirmed. “He will be out for a considerable amount of time with a bad knee injury, as you probably saw from the pictures, and he won’t be with us for this season absolutely.”

Asked whether left-back is now an area Blues could strengthen in January, Davies added: “Possibly, yes. My thinking was always to have a look how we got through Christmas with injuries and stuff but we are at this moment in time assessing where the squad is at and whether we need to bring in one or two to help the players. That’s something that we are looking at.”
Blues’ squad is relatively well stocked in most other positions but exits could change Davies’ plans. Dion Sanderson – who travelled to Stockport with his teammates but didn’t make the 18-man squad – is among those expected to depart Blues this month.
