Chris Davies has again missed out on the Manager of the Month award – despite Birmingham City’s near-perfect month in League One.

Blues ended 2024 on top of the League One table after five wins and a draw from their six games in December. Blackpool were the only team to avoid defeat to Blues, collecting a point from their trip to St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park on December 29.

But for the second time this season Davies has been beaten to the Manager of the Month award. Leyton Orient boss Richie Wellens has scooped the gong after his team also took 16 points from their six games in December to haul themselves up to eighth place.

Orient posted comprehensive victories over Bristol Rovers, Wigan, Barnsley, Crawley and Cambridge without conceding a goal in the process. The O’s have continued their fine form in the New Year with wins over Bristol Rovers and Shrewsbury.

Davies has now missed out on the award three times. He was pipped to it in August by Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson and Blackpool boss Steve Bruce beat him to it in September in a month where Blues won all of their league games.

Jay Stansfield has also missed out on the Player of the Month award to Charlton’s Miles Leaburn. Stansfield scored five times in December, including winners away at Barnsley and Crawley, but Leaburn claimed the award with four goals and two assists in his six outings.
