Chris Dobey banks six-figure windfall after stunning Ally Pally win over Gerwyn Price
Chris Dobey has banked a whopping six-figure windfall after reaching the semi-finals of the PDC World Darts Championship. The Bedlington-born thrower earned a 5-3 sets win over Gerwyn Price in a last-eight thriller at Alexandra Palace on New Year's Day, which more than wowed the crowd.
In the process, Dobey, 34, has now secured a guaranteed £100,000 in prize money. He can double that amount with victory in the semi-final on Thursday, and then would take home £500,000 should he go all the way and win the Sid Waddell Trophy for the first time in his career.
Over the last two years, Dobey has banked £430,250 from ranking tournaments. His career earnings, meanwhile, stand at £1.28million according to Darts Orakel, with 2023 the best season. Dobey is ranked 15th in the world, but has already beaten Alexander Merkx, Josh Rock, Kevin Doets and Price en route to the last-four.

And now, Dobey is now set to meet either No.3 seed Michael van Gerwen or Callan Rydz for a place in the final. If Rydz manages to get through his quarter-final meeting against three-time winner Van Gerwen, then it will set up a blockbuster Bedlington derby between two North East darts stars.
Speaking on the prospect of facing Rydz, Dobey told Sky Sports: "It would be absolutely brilliant. For a little town, Bedlington, to have two lads probably in the semi-final of the World Championships is amazing.
"I do believe he can do it, I just hope he turns up again. He has been brilliant all competition, and so I'm praying we can get that clash."
