Celebrating Chris Dobey is eyeing double Geordie success after Newcastle United booked their return ticket to Wembley.

Hollywood kicks-off the 2025 Premier League Darts season with an opening game in Belfast against Gerwyn Price and, like his beloved football team, he has unfinished business. Dobey goes into his contest with a spring in the step after his beloved Magpies took care of Arsenal on Wednesday night at St James’s Park to move into the Carabao Cup Final.

Eddie Howe’s team heartbreakingly lost the same Final to Manchester United two years ago, but they have a chance for redemption and the darts star says he’d pick a first trophy in over half a century ahead of Euro qualification.

He said: “To be honest, I think they do deserve Europe, but bringing their first bit of silverware, without a doubt. I’d rather win the Carabao.”

Dobey has his own wants in the Premier League having come up short when it in the event two years and says there’s unfinished business as he added: “Yeah, 100 per cent. I'm a much better player now. I felt I had a good season in the Premier League. I just didn’t get the results. I played some great stuff, but I’m back and I’m ready to compete. I’m hoping to go deep and just start picking up points early goes.”

His selection was rubber-stamped by a run to the Worlds semi-finals and he said: “I wouldn’t say I expected it. I knew I had put myself in contention. I think I’m obviously having a great season on the floor, but I hadn’t done it on TV. I think I made the World Series quarter-final. That was the furthest I’d went, other than the Worlds.

“I did say I would need at least a semi-final to put myself back in the mix. I think a few people fell early doors, and I reached the semis. So I did feel I might have done enough, but I was just like the rest of them, waiting for the call or the message to see if I was in or not.”
