Chris Kamara admits he has been 'blown away' by the response to news he is to return to live broadcasting on football for the first time in two years.

The former Stoke City captain and manager will work for Amazon on Boxing Day, covering Nottingham Forest against Tottenham in the Premier League and reporting to his old Sky Sports colleague Jeff Stelling in the studio.

He had stepped back from his work at Sky to a rare neurological disorder. He had been a familiar face on TV for 24 years but in March 2022 he was diagnosed with apraxia of speech (AOS), which slowed down his speech and thought processes.

In a post on X yesterday he said: "Best phone call ever this afternoon inviting me to do the Forest v Spurs game on Boxing Day, reporting back to the Unbelievable Jeff Stelling in the studio.

"I thought I was done, so it’s a big thank you Amazon. I’m back."

He added today: "Once again I am blown away by the reaction to the news that I am back reporting on footy. Thank you everyone, you are all 'Unbelievable Jeff'."

Kamara, aged 66, has continue to work on pre-recorded TV and radio over the last couple of years and he travelled to Mexico to take part in clinical trials.

Stelling sent him a reply saying: "I am looking forward to it as much as you mate."
