Newcastle United will make it nine wins in a row when they face Wolverhamton Wanderers in tonight's Premier League showdown, according to the leading pundits.

Eddie Howe's side refocus on Premier League concerns on Wednesday evening after two cup successes, with a place in the top four on the cards this season. United did their chances of silverware no harm at all with a Carabao Cup win over Arsenal and Sunday's FA Cup succes at home to Bromley, with the Magpies having now won their last eight in all competition.

Alexander Isak is expected to return to the side for the midweek game against Wolves after Howe rested several big-name players last weekend, with Bournemouth due at St James' on Saturday as the Premier League heats up. As usual, the pundits have made their predictions for the big game - here's what they had to say.

"This is pretty straightforward as far as predictions go," Sutton wrote in his BBC predictions. "Newcastle are on for a domestic Treble this season - well, on current form anyway - and I don't see their eight-game winning streak stopping here.

"Wolves had made a good start under new boss Vitor Pereira but they had their bubble burst by Nottingham Forest in their last league game, and I don't see them dealing with the Magpies' firepower. Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon have been great and Jacob Murphy is absolutely flying. I am really pleased for Murphy because a lot of people forget about him - but I haven't, I have got him in my Fantasy team."

“Newcastle are playing some amazing football with all their main players firing at the moment,” Merson told Sporskeeda. “They’re a team that’s absolutely flying! Newcastle have one eye on the Carabao Cup final after beating Arsenal 2-0 in the first leg of the semi-final last week. I bet they wish they could play the return leg this week instead of next month because by that time, they risk having injuries or losing steam.

“I still expect Newcastle to win here though. Wolves enjoyed a kick-start when the new manager came in. But then they lost to Nottingham Forest and I can see them losing again in this one! It should be back to reality for Wolves.”

"Wolves were taken apart by Nottingham Forest the other night, it doesn’t look like the change of manager has worked but it is early days and Forest were really good," Lawrenson told Paddy Power. "Newcastle are in excellent form and I’d be very surprised if they didn’t win this."
