Christopher Nkunku furious with Joao Felix as Enzo Maresca stops Enzo Fernandez Chelsea nightmare
Chelsea were beaten for the second time in four days on Monday evening as Ipswich Town inflicted more pain on the Blues, who end 2024 with back-to-back losses.
The Blues conceded either side of half-time to the Tractor Boys, with Liam Delap and Omari Hutchinson ensuring all three points for the hosts at Portman Road. It was a really disappointing evening for Chelsea, just a few days after giving up a one-goal lead to come away with nothing at home to Fulham.
A lot of Chelsea supporters would have been unable to watch the match on Monday evening with the game not being televised live in the UK. Fortunately for football.london, we were in attendance, so here are a few moments you may have missed...

Palmer's Delap knowledge
Cole Palmer and Liam Delap go way back. The pair came through the Manchester City academy together - so it is fair to say they know a lot about each other's game.
Delap, who was a thorn in Chelsea's side all evening-long at Portman Road, opened the scoring early on for the Tractor Boys. After being fed through by Leif Davis, Delap rounded goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen and fell to the ground. Replays showed minimal contact but after a lengthy VAR check, Ipswich were given the penalty.
Palmer, who would have seen Delap take countless penalties during their academy days, was pointing at the bottom left corner to help Jorgensen. The Chelsea goalkeeper did dive in the right direction but Delap's penalty was too good for the Dane and it gave Ipswich the lead in East Anglia.
Nkunku furious with Felix
Joao Felix was very unfortunate not to score on Monday. The Portuguese attacker had a goal ruled out for offside with VAR ruling he was in an illegal position by the barest of margins. Other than that, Felix had numerous big chances but was unable to find the back of the net.
There was one opportunity in the first-half where Felix had a shot from the edge of the box, side-footing it into the corner but Christian Walton, who was brilliant all game for the hosts, was equal to it. In the end, it was fairly comfortable for Walton, and Felix really should have made a smarter decision.
He had players to his right and an open Christopher Nkunku to the left of him. If he had passed to Nkunku - and the pass did not look too difficult - then the Frenchman would have had a golden chance to draw Chelsea level on the night.
Instead, Felix shot and it was saved - leaving Nkunku absolutely furious with his teammate. Waving his arms in the air afterwards before shouting something at Felix, who apologised for making the wrong decision.
Maresca helps Fernandez
Earlier in the month, Marc Cucurella was shown a silly red card after picking up a second booking after the full-time whistle in the win against Brentford at Stamford Bridge. We almost saw a repeat of that with Enzo Fernandez at Portman Road but Enzo Maresca played a big helping hand in preventing the nightmare situation.
Fernandez was frustrated for the final few minutes of the game and was having words with Kalvin Phillips and other Ipswich players, who were seemingly trying to wind up the Argentine midfielder. At full-time, there was an altercation but Maresca saw this from the dugout and ran over to try and play peacemaker.
Maresca got in between the Ipswich players and Fernandez to prevent the midfielder being shown a red card following the full-time whistle.
