Eyes turn back to the Premier League for Manchester United this weekend as they return to domestic action on Sunday evening. Ruben Amorim’s side travel down to London to take on Fulham at Craven Cottage in the 7pm kick-off.

A late Bruno Fernandes goal saw United overcome Rangers in the Europa League on Thursday night as they returned to winning ways. They will now look to take that back into league matters.

Away from the pitch, the January transfer window deadline day is quickly approaching, with teams having until Monday, February 3, to complete their winter business. It means that United an Amorim have just over a week to get any late deals over the line.

There’s no surprise then that there has been a lot of talk over possible comings and goings. With that in mind, here is a look at a couple of the stories from the last 24 hours.

Nkunku transfer hint

United have been linked with an interest in Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku ahead of the final week of the January transfer window. It has even been reported that there are talks going on over a possible swap deal that will see Alejandro Garnacho join Chelsea and Nkunku come the other way.

Chelsea’s clash against Man City gave the Blues a chance to send a message over the forward. He was named on the bench for the game at the Etihad Stadium, and entered the pitch for the final 30 minutes of the game, but was unable to help his team as they fell to a 3-1 loss.

MEN says: The fact that Nkunku was brought on as a substitute hints that any potential deal is not close. If it was, then the forward would have either been left out of the squad or left on the bench to avoid injury.

If a swap deal that would see Garnacho go the other way would be a good deal for United is difficult to see. If feels like the club would be best to just keep Garnacho in the squad and work with him, instead of trying to integrate someone new.

Three exits confirmed

Manchester United have confirmed the exits of three players on three loan deals. Firstly young striker Ethan Wheatley has joined League Two side Walsall on loan until the end of the season.

Young defender Jack Kingdon was then confirmed as joining non-league side Rochdale on a temporary deal. To finish the exits, winger Antony has signed for Spanish side Real Betis on loan until the end of the season.

MEN says: The first two deals will be good for both players as they look to build-up their experience in first team football. The loans to lower league clubs should be a positive step in both players’ development.

For Antony, the deal could be a slight boost in terms of Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSRs) with the deal getting a big part of the player’s wages off the books. There is, however, no option to make the deal permanent in the summer.
