A city centre fanzone has been announced for Newcastle United's much-anticipated appearance in the Carabao Cup final in March.

The Newcastle Fan Zone at Times Square will host a screening of the final on Sunday, March 16.

Tickets for the event are now on sale, but fans are urged to act quickly as they are expected to sell out fast.

The screening is part of a packed programme of entertainment over the weekend, with a capacity crowd of 3,000 anticipated.

VIP tables sold out immediately after the final whistle of the semi-final against Arsenal, with only a few hundred general admission and reserved seating tickets remaining.

Those lucky enough to secure a ticket will not only get to watch the game on two giant screens but can also enjoy a 30-metre bar, giveaways, and live DJs.

The pre-match party will kick off at 11am, featuring a performance by top tribute act, Sam ofFender.

Tickets, priced from £12.50, are available from Fatsoma, with only a limited selection still available.

The Fan Zone is part of Paddy Fest, a programme of entertainment in Times Square running from March 13 to 17.

The event, organised by Newcastle-based EVNT Inspirations, will feature a variety of activities, including a student darts event, Flight Night, and screenings of the Six Nations tournament on Super Saturday, March 15.

Nigel Holliday, one of the directors of EVNT Inspirations, said: "This is really going to be the cherry on top of what was already going to be an incredible weekend.

"The response for tickets has been unbelievable – not just for the fan zone but for everything – so we’re really advising anyone who doesn’t want to be disappointed, to get their tickets asap."

The weekend will culminate in a massive St Patrick’s Day celebration on Monday, March 17, courtesy of party event organiser Tropiloco, with free tickets for Irish partygoers.
