City envisage bright future for Mo Fadera in Scunthorpe development loan
ADAM Hinshelwood has high hopes for Mo Fadera after a bright start to life on loan at Scunthorpe United.
After Fadera joined Scunthorpe on a one-month loan deal last month, the 20-year-old made his debut for the Iron in their 2-2 draw with Chorley last Saturday.
Fadera played a major role in Danny Whitehall’s second-half equaliser, before managing six minutes off of the bench in their midweek 3-2 victory over Brackley Town.
Hinshelwood was pleased that the move materialised after a previous loan to Farsley Celtic collapsed, and hopes that the youngster can learn a lot from Scunthorpe, a club that he has a lot of respect for.
“I’m delighted for him!” Hinshelwood told the Press.
“He’s improved and this is the next sort of mark now, he needs to go and play.
“He was twiddling his thumbs and was desperate to go and get some game time, but the team was performing well and he needs to go and get that regular game time.
“It’s so he can improve and can get all of the little mistakes out, I’m sure he’ll learn a lot from it.
“I’m pleased that he’s gone to such a good club, I think that it could bode well for them, they’re getting a really good and exciting player that can definitely affect games for them.
“For us, we’re hoping to see the benefits of it when he comes back to us.”
Similarly to other loan moves away from the club, City Director of Football Tony McMahon played a large part in setting up the deal between York and Scunthorpe.
McMahon had made 14 appearances for Scunthorpe as a player, with the Minstermen reaping the rewards of the Director of Football’s large list of contacts.
Hinshelwood continued: “He’s really well connected, Macca is, throughout football.
“Especially up in these parts too, there’s not too many people up here that are at clubs that Macca doesn’t know.
“It really does help to get those players out on loan, he’s been massive in all of the loan moves so far and also knowing players and potential loans to bring in as well.
“He does an amazing job and has been busy in the last couple of days, so we’ve got to make sure that we have a squad now that can compete in the next 21 games.”
