Claim made about Liverpool dressing room reaction to Arne Slot as he 'eyes double transfer'
Liverpool still hasn't confirmed the appointment of Arne Slot. But it's anticipated that the Feyenoord boss will be managing at Anfield come next season.
Slot more or less confirmed that recently. For now, the focus is on giving Jürgen Klopp a fitting send-off in his final two games, but Liverpool's future looks to be in the hands of the Dutchman.
It goes down as something of a left-field appointment, although there have been a lack of standout candidates since Xabi Alonso ruled himself out of the race. And given his credentials, you can understand how Liverpool's process has ended up at Slot.

He will join as 'head coach' rather than manager, meaning he will not have the leading voice in transfer activity. But it's suggested he's already planning two moves — while claims have emerged about how the squad has reacted to news of his imminent arrival. Here's the Media Digest.
Liverpool dressing room reaction to Slot
Liverpool players were 'underwhelmed' by the news that the club plans to appoint Slot. That's according to Football Insider.
It's claimed that the response in the dressing room was 'lukewarm'. Senior players were not consulted on the decision, with the process led by Michael Edwards, and the Feyenoord manager has not inspired excitement.
Liverpool.com says: Slot was never going to be an appointment that got tongues wagging. He has done well in the Eredivisie, but has not yet built a huge reputation outside of his homeland.
But to paint that as disappointment within the dressing room seems a little disingenuous. Only the players know what discussions, if any, have been held, but it's certain that everyone will give Slot a fair chance.
It's hard to imagine which manager out there would have caused real excitement, given the mammoth task of replacing Klopp. Maybe Alonso would have fulfilled that brief, potentially fresh off an unbeaten season, but that was not an option for Liverpool.
Slot plots double transfer
One dressing room where Slot certainly has full buy-in is at Feyenoord. And the inevitable claims that he plans to bring players with him have already begun.
As mentioned, it is Edwards and Richard Hughes who will call the shots in that regard. But per Football Insider, Slot wants two Feyenoord stars to follow him to Anfield.
Midfielder Mats Wieffer and defender Lutsharel Geertruida are both said to be on the Liverpool radar. However, Slot will meet with the recruitment personnel at the club before any firm decisions are made.
Geertruida was spotted in the away end in the recent draw with West Ham. But This is Anfield suggests he was in England to meet up with friend and Leeds star Crysencio Summerville.
Liverpool.com says: We can certainly take any Feyenoord transfer links with a pinch of salt for the time being. Slot will not have the freedom to take anybody he likes with him to Anfield.
That being said, Liverpool will have watched a lot of Feyenoord when deciding on Slot. It's not inconceivable that one or two players caught the eye.
