Clarets sign Jonjo Shelvey on deal until end of season
Burnley have confirmed the signing of experienced midfielder Jonjo Shelvey on a deal until the end of the season.
The 32-year-old had been training with Scott Parker's squad and now becomes the Clarets' third signing of the January window after Oliver Sonne and Ashley Barnes.
“It feels amazing to get it done," Shelvey said. "It’s been quite a long process, but it’s all done now and I’m excited for it.
“I like the club as a whole. Every time I have played against Burnley at Turf Moor it’s been tough, but I’m part of this team now and my aim is to do my best to help this club get back into the Premier League, where it belongs.”
Shelvey brings a wealth of experience to Turf Moor, having made more than 450 appearances during his career to date.
The midfielder made his senior debut at Charlton and his performances at the Valley earned a move to Liverpool in 2010.
He went on to spent three years at Anfield, playing more than 60 times for the Reds and breaking into the England squad.
Shelvey also had spells at Swansea, Newcastle and more recently Nottingham Forest, where he played alongside Burnley defender Joe Worrall.
He spent the past 18 months in Turkey - playing for Çaykur Rizespor and Eyüpspor - and now returns to English football to help the Clarets' promotion push.
Parker's side are back in action on Wednesday night when they make the long trip to Plymouth Argyle.
