Jhon Duran might be one of the hottest names in this month’s transfer rumour mill, but Aston Villa have no intention of selling him.

That’s according to The Athletic who say Villa regard the 21-year-old as worth more than £100million and have no plans to sell him in January.

Indeed Duran, who suggested he wanted to move on last summer, has only recently signed a new long-term contract, committing him to Villa until 2030, and perhaps even more importantly has forced his way into Unai Emery’s first team.

The Colombian international had started four straight Premier League matches, relegating Ollie Watkins to the bench, until he was sent off at Newcastle and suspended for three games. He is eligible to return against Everton on Wednesday.

However, that hasn’t stopped a maelstrom of speculation with Duran being linked clubs across Europe, including Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Chelsea. It was suggested on Monday that West Ham United had seen a bid rejected only last week.

Villa’s reluctance to trade would not only be based on Duran’s enormous potential but on the fact they would need to source a replacement in the remaining three weeks of the transfer window.
