Club owner publicly confirms he has struck transfer agreement with Aston Villa
Aston Villa striker Louie Barry will be joining Championship side Hull City and will train with the Tigers this week ahead of their fixture at the weekend, owner Acun Ilicali has confirmed. Barry scored 15 goals for Stockport County in the first half of this season, but he was recalled by Villa earlier this month with the intention of loaning him out to a club in the second tier.
Barry, who has only made one appearance for Villa, and scored, back in 2021 when a Covid hit team welcomed Liverpool to Villa Park in the FA Cup. He has since embarked on various loan adventures at Salford City, Swindon Town, Ipswich Town and Milton Keynes Dons. Last season, he joined Stockport and helped to fire them to promotion to League One.
Returning for a stint in the third tier, Barry has proven that he is ready for another step up. With the likes of Derby County, Leeds United and Middlesbrough all keen on signing Barry on another loan deal, Hull appear to have won the race. There are claims that they have sent Villa £1m by way of a loan fee in order to secure Barry's services.

"It is very close," Ilicali told Sky Sports News. "He’s going to be with us in training tomorrow. I can say that the deal is done."
Hull have been busy this month as they look to back new boss Ruben Selles in the market and aid their chances of surviving their relegation scrap. They've added the likes of Matt Crooks, Joe Gelhardt, Kyle Joseph and Nordin Amrabat already.
