Cody Gakpo said that he thinks Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones is one of the most underrated players in Liverpool's team.

Jones has emerged as a key player for the Reds this season, appearing 27 times and putting in notably brilliant performances in wins against Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen.

He has not yet fully cemented his place in Arne Slot's first-choice XI, with Dominik Szoboszlai currently favored ahead of the England international in a midfield trio alongside Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister.

Still, he is enjoying his most impactful season yet and Gakpo is pleased to see the 23-year-old get the credit he deserves.

"I love that Curtis is getting praised more and more," Gakpo told The Player's Tribune. "He’s one of the most underrated players on the team, but his ability on the ball is so good, it’s unbelievable."

Gakpo also praised Ibrahima Konate, who has firmly established himself as Virgil van Dijk's best partner, while he thinks Ryan Gravenberch is getting adequate recognition as well.

Gakpo added: "Ryan gets his praise now, too. And Ibou Konate as well. His (Konate's) position is very difficult because he plays as the right center-back. But because most of the time Trent has to pressure their left-back up high, the left winger of the opponent is then alone, and it’s a big space for Ibou to cover.

"But he always does it well. I’m back on the left wing. I think that the biggest thing Slot did for my game is put me back in that position instead of playing in a more central role."
