Cole Palmer has sent a cheeky message to Christopher Nkunku after Chelsea's 5-1 win over Southampton on Wednesday.

Goals from Axel Disasi, Nkunku, Noni Madueke, Palmer and Jadon Sancho propelled the Blues to second in the Premier League table on goal difference. Chelsea sit seven points behind league leaders Liverpool, with Arne Slot's side and Manchester City the only two teams to beat them in the league so far this season.

Enzo Maresca's team will be brimming with confidence as they prepare for Sunday's London derby against Tottenham, which kicks off at 4:30pm. And ahead of this weekend's huge game, Palmer has sent a message to Nkunku on social media after poking the ball home when it looked like the Frenchman was about to get his brace against the Saints.

"Top win. Top support," he said on Instagram. "Sorry @c_nkunku but my FPL [Fantasy Premier League] managers needed me."

Maresca was asked about the number of goalscorers in his team against Southampton, admitting that it is a good feeling for his ever-improving side.

"We said, if you remember from the beginning of the season, the way we played with the two wingers, the two attacking midfielders and the No.9 are in charge of the goals," he said in his post-match press conference.

"You can see the goals from Noni, from Cole, from Jadon, from Nico, Christo - they are all attacking players and it's a good feeling that all of them can be involved in the goals.

"I think there are just three or four teams that have conceded less than us. So we are very happy."
