There’s only so much of a mystery with who will fill some of the available spots.
After winning their conference championship games, Arizona State, Boise State, Georgia, Oregon and Clemson are effectively guaranteed a playoff berth. Penn State and Ohio State appear to be locks out of the Big Ten. The same goes for Texas and Tennessee out of the SEC.

CFP rankings release schedule 2024
Sunday, December 8: Noon ET
Sunday’s College Football Playoff rankings will be the sixth and final rankings the playoff selection committee will publicize. The previous five sets of rankings came out on Tuesday nights, beginning on Nov. 5 after Week 10 of the 2024 season.
Sunday’s rankings will come out a day after the completion of the final group of conference championship games. Each of the four title games for the Power Four conferences — the Big Ten, SEC, ACC and Big 12 — were held Saturday.

What channel is CFP selection show on Sunday?
The College Football Playoff selection show will air on ESPN, beginning at noon ET. The show is scheduled to last four hours, concluding at 4 p.m. ET, though as has been the case in previous years, the rankings and playoff selections will be unveiled in the earlier part of the broadcast window.
