Ipswich Town winger Wes Burns has shared a message after manager Kieran McKenna revealed that he'll miss the rest of the season with an ACL tear.

The 30-year-old, who featured 18 times for the Blues in the Premier League this season, went down clutching his knee in the first half of the 4-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield. He was subsequently stretchered off, with fears that the injury was serious.

McKenna confirmed that he is due to have surgery next week and that he won't feature for Ipswich again this season.

Burns has since taken to Instagram to share a message ahead of tomorrow's crunch clash between Town and relegation rivals Southampton at Portman Road.

"Devastated that my season has ended this way, these things happen in football unfortunately," he posted.

"It's going to be a long old road to recovery but I'm determined to come back better! With the support of my family, Ipswich Town and my amazing team-mates, I have no doubt my rehab journey will give me the opportunity to improve as a person and athlete!

"I have every faith that the lads can get the job done this year. The best is yet to come from this group!

"The comeback will be better than the setback."
