WARRINGTON Wolves fans can now start planning their trips to Whitehaven after a date for the Challenge Cup third-round tie between the two sides was confirmed.

The Wire's first competitive fixture of the 2025 season will take place on Saturday, February 8, kick off 3pm, at Haven's Ortus Rec home ground.

The match has not currently been selected for any form of live broadcast, so the only way to watch the action is to be there live.

Ticket details are yet to be confirmed but are expected to be announced in the coming days.

Whitehaven, who are this year being coached by former Warrington hooker Anthony Murray, earned the right to host Sam Burgess' side by beating fellow League One side Swinton Lions 24-12 in their second-round tie on Saturday.

It means Warrington will visit the Cumbrian side for the first time since the 2004 Challenge Cup quarter-finals, when two tries from Nathan Wood and further scores from Brent Grose, Ian Sibbit, Warren Stevens, Ben Westwood, John Wilshere and Paul Wood secured a 42-10 victory.

The last competitive meeting between the two came at The Halliwell Jones Stadium in May 2006 when current assistant coach Martin Gleeson was among the Wire scorers in a 46-2 victory in the fifth round of the knockout competition.
