Featherstone Rovers outside back Connor Wynne and Goole Vikings hooker Jeylan Hodgson have both been suspeneded after an RFL tribunal found them guilty of punching and biting offences. The former Hull FC pair were involved in an ugly incident during a pre-season match earlier this month, with their fate now decided.

Both players have been handed six games bans and will miss the third round of the Challenge Cup next month, not to mention the start of the Championship and League 1 seasons. The duo were both handed Grade E charges by the RFL, with Hodgson, who was placed on report at the time, now found guilty of biting. Meanwhile, Wynne punched in retallation and was subsequently sent off.

Wynne pleaded guilty to the Grade E punching charge. He has been suspended for six matches and fined £250. On the other hand, Hodgson, who joined Goole last autumn after being released from Hull FC, pleaded not guilty to the biting charge, but the panel found him guilty at the tribunal. He was also handed a six-match suspension and a £75 fine.

Finding his feet at Featherstone, Wynne had an impressive first season at the West Yorksire club, scoring over 20 tries, and has attracted interest from Super League club Hull KR, as exclsuviely reported by Hull Live, about a move for 2026. He left Hull FC in 2023.

Elsewhere, York Acorn player Josh Thompson will miss his side's fairy-tale Challenge Cup clash against Hull FC next wekeend. The player has been handed a four-match ban following a Grade E Other Contrary Behaviour charge. The incident happened in the first round tie against GB Police.

*The RFL was set to run with a new disciplinary points system this year. However, the system is currently under review following criticism of last year's points totals carrying through into 2025.
