Controversial Liverpool example used by Arsenal in successful FA appeal
Arsenal used an incident involving Liverpool in their appeal against a controversial red card in the Premier League. The Reds continue to battle the Gunners in the title race and face another potentially defining weekend ahead in the top flight.
Arne Slot's side will face Bournemouth on Saturday as they aim to extend their lead at the top of the table to nine points. Around 24 hours later, Arsenal will face Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium, after which the state of the title race will become much clearer.
Last weekend, Liverpool claimed a 4-1 win over Ipswich Town on the same day that Arsenal won 1-0 away at Wolves. It was during this game that Gunners defender Myles Lewis-Skelly was shown what went on to be a controversial red card by referee Michael Oliver.

Arsenal lodged an appeal against the dismissal, which they were successful following an FA ruling. The report provided by the FA listed the evidence the Gunners used to support their case, which included one incident involving Liverpool.
The report states how Arsenal used the red card given to Alexis Mac Allister in Liverpool's 3-1 home win over Bournemouth last season. The Reds also appealed the decision, which was subsequently won, with the Gunners using this outcome as part of their evidence against Lewis-Skelly's sending off.
Mac Allister was not the only player mentioned in the report by Arsenal. The Gunners also used an incident involving a red card for Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes, which was also overturned following an appeal.
Arsenal also included a yellow card being issued by Oliver to Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes in the same game. As a result of the appeal, Lewis-Skelly will be available for the next three Premier League fixtures as the title race continues.
