Coventry City fans will love what Frank Lampard told Tom Grennan in private
Frank Lampard reached out to Coventry City's avid supporter Tom Grennan with an 'up the f****** Covs' text after taking charge at the Championship club.
The former Chelsea star signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Sky Blues back in November, declaring himself "refreshed and ready to go". Since then, results have been a mixed bag so far.
Speaking on the Not Just Football podcast, Grennan, known for his passion for Coventry, disclosed that he had messaged Lampard before the official announcement.

Grennan shared with hosts Hayley McQueen, Kelly Cates and Frank's wife Christine Lampard his eagerness to find out the truth behind the rumours – although his initial attempt didn't yield much information.
The 29-year-old said: "Yeah it is my team. I actually messaged him before because there was rumours obviously. So I was like, obviously he was my manager at Soccer Aid.
"I said, 'gaffer, tell me that you're now the manager of Coventry'. He was like 'I'll be honest, I've had no communication'."
Christine agreed with Lampard's response to Grennan, adding: "It was like that at the beginning because people were calling us all the time going, 'oh I see you're [going to Coventry]' – no!”
But when Lampard's appointment was finally made public, he did get back to Grennan with a message that thrilled him. The pop star said: "Yeah, and then I woke up to a message, it said 'up the f****** Cov', and I was like 'yes, wicked'."
While Lampard's tenure as Coventry manager kicked off with two victories, one draw and one defeat, his latest stint in the dugout left a lot to be desired. The Sky Blues were thrashed 4-1 by Portsmouth on Saturday (December 21), setting the stage for a thrilling encounter on Boxing Day.
Coventry will face Wayne Rooney's Plymouth Argyle on December 26, pitting Lampard against his former Premier League rival. Both clubs are battling to fend off relegation following lacklustre starts to the season.
